Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question and the answer does not appear below, please email your enquiry to info@stockplusauction.com

Registering to use the website

Q. Do I need to register to use the StockPlus website?

A. You do not need to register to view or browse the website. However, should you wish to post an item for sale, make a bid, purchase an item, or place a wanted notice, you will need to register. By registering, you will be able to manage your activities on the website through 'Your StockPlus Account' which is a secure area set aside for each user to view all of his activities, past and current.

Costs

Q. How much does it cost to sell an item on the StockPlus auction website?

A. There is no charge for posting an item for sale. If the item is sold on completion of the auction, a commission fee is payable based on the highest bid or the 'Purchase Now' price. If the item is not sold, no commission fee is payable. For details of the commission fees payable, please go to Fee Schedule which you can find in 'How StockPlus Works'.

Q. How much does it cost to purchase or bid for a lot on the StockPlus auction website? How much does it cost to place a wanted advert?

A. There is no charge for bidding on a lot. StockPlus makes no charge to the bidder or buyer for purchasing items on the StockPlus auction. There is also no charge for placing a wanted notice on the website.

Bidding

Q. On what basis would I be purchasing or bidding on a lot? Is it for a delivered price or ex-works?

A. The bid you place will be on the basis of the sale price of the item as located at the premises or warehouse of the seller and excludes freight, insurance and any VAT or taxes that may apply. The seller will invoice these costs when the destination of the item is known on completion of the auction. The same will apply where the seller has posted a 'Purchase Now' price (a price at which you may purchase a lot without going through the bidding process).

The auction price, Bid or Purchase Now, is defined as ‘the price at the location of the premises or warehouse of the seller’.  On completion of a StockPlus auction, the seller is responsible for arranging the freight. (See following question and answer). 'Ex works' is an INCO term where the freight is the responsibility of the buyer.

Freight and insurance

Q. When an auction lot is sold, who is responsible for arranging the freight and insurance from the seller's premises to the buyer's premises?

A. Freight and insurance are the responsibilty of the seller. For the convenience of the seller, StockPlus will endeavour to arrange, via SP International (a division of StockPlus), an independent freight quotation for the seller within 3 days of the completion of the auction. Similarly, a transit insurance quote will be obtained from an independent insurance broker. These quotations will be sent direct to the seller by the freight and insurance companies respectively. StockPlus arranges for these quotations to be issued purely as a service to the seller. The seller is under no obligation to use this service and is free to arrange his own freight and insurance should he wish to do so.

Posting an Item for sale

Q. I have registered my company details and now wish to sell a product on the auction. I have started to complete the 'Post an Item for sale' details but the packaging specification of my product does not seem to fit into the categories on the posting form. Can I enter as much as possible in the section on Packaging and leave the other entries in that section blank?

A.  The Packaging section on the posting form is intended to be a guide for a potential bidder and also to enable a freight quote to be given when required. We appreciate that there are many different types of packing configurations and we ask you to complete the details as best you can based on your particular product. In the spaces asking for gross weight and dimensions, if you are not sure of these details then you can simply enter TBA. However, we will not be able to obtain a freight quotation for you without this information. Should you wish to have a freight quotation later, you may send the full packing details and auction reference number by email to quotations@sp-international.gb.com.
